At this time of year, it is always important to reflect on the year just passed. What were the milestones? What where the challenges? Did you meet the goals you set out for yourself? What were the surprises? What were the moments that took your breath away?

First off, since I can barely remember what I did last week, I start by looking at my calendar. What the heck was I doing in January 2011? I love this part, because I get to relive all the amazing adventures that took place over the course of the past year.
The highlight of the year was taking the month of March to travel with Jeffrey to one of our favourite destinations – Utah. Starting out with a week of snowboarding in Park City, Utah we encountered something we had yet to see ~ powder!!! Every snowboarders dream!! We stayed right in the village; we took in a hot tub at the end of each day of skiing, and enjoyed the many touristy restaurants. We left Park City and headed south to Moab where we switched gears and got the mountain bikes out.
Not only that, but we rented dirt bikes. After taking an hour lesson back home a few months earlier, we hit the trails. Now talk about being scared $$hitless and loving every minute of it!!! Man, that was a rush ~ not only the most incredible landscape, but the adrenaline from that little engine was exhilarating. Talk about not being cheap though ~ this joy ride turned out to costs us a pretty penny since we loved it so much, we just HAD to purchased two dirt bikes over the summer. It was a great purchase as it is something we have come to love and enjoy doing together. Okay, back to our 30 day adventure….next after our week in Moab, we ventured south even further to Sedona, AZ. Another beautiful place to ride and an incredible city filled with shops, restaurants and outdoor activities. Jeff had booked us a quaint cabin in the mountains just for two.
It was just a month later that Jeff and I took flight again to beautiful Del Coronado, San Diego where my company treated both of us to a beautiful weekend with others leaders, and the co-founders of Isagenix. We had a beautiful 6 course meal outside on the beach, an afternoon on a catamaran touring the island, and some time to relax with friends, new and old!! It was the first event that Jeffrey had been to and it was so wonderful to have him share in the weekend with me, to be able to introduce him the team and have them meet the man in my life. Family and balance are of the outmost priority!!
The following few months involved a trip to Edmonton for our nephew Austin’s Graduation. It was a wonderful opportunity to get the family together, with the exception of Jeffrey who had to miss it due to work commitments!! August saw me back in San Diego and then Stockton in October for training events.
Jeffrey started French Language Training in July and is doing so well that we can have dinner with my family and spend the entire evening speaking French. Yes, for those of you who didn’t know, I am French Canadian! With a maiden like Blouin…. was there really any questions? lol
2011 was the first full year of operations for Altitude Gym, the climbing gym we opened the year prior along with 10 other investors. Jeff has taken on the major responsibilities on our part, and has spent numerous hours doing business plans, managing staff, putting out fires. It is at times like these that it is good to have someone who knows how to get things done!!! The feedback we have received from the community has been exceptional. Often, we I bump into friends, they have either heard of someone who climbs at our gym, or has had their child’s birthday party, or team party at Clip ‘N Climb. With our first gym having a resounding success, it should not be to anyone surprise that the next one is well underway and projected opening is August 2112 in Laval, Quebec. Those French lessons will certainly come in handy.
This was also the year Jeffrey and I both turned 40!!!
Yes, a milestone indeed. What we’ve come to realize is that you truly are only as old as you think you are. And let me tell you, we don’t feel a day older than 30. It’s my opinion that it’s once you stop dreaming, that’s when you start aging. And our lives are filled with more adventures, and larger dreams than ever.
2011 was also my first full year pursuing my Isagenix Business full-time. My business has grown over 225% over last year. This has been achieved by helping more people get wildly healthy but most important, linking arms with others to want to do the same. My team has grown by nearly 2000 people in the last 365 days! That’s 2000 people that have experienced great health and benefited from personal coaching and group support towards reaching their goals. The proof is in the before and after pictures. I am very proud of what we’ve accomplished. I am prouder still of the incredible men and women who have joined our team and transforming lives. These are individuals who wanted to make a difference in the lives of others, but also their own.
Becoming an entrepreneur has certainly brought about a significant amount of changes to my life. Learning to be your own, boss, working from the comforts of your home, and managing a large team all come with great accomplishments and challenges. It has taught me a lot about myself. As the business grows, I learn, I transform, and I to grow. I love that I can do all this while building my business instead of at the expense of it. The last year has made we realize that if we set an intention, and share it with others, it will not only become a reality, but others will be inspired to join you and start making changes in their lives toward their dreams.
Without a doubt I can tell you that I am thrilled with my decision and have never looked back. I love having the flexibility to fit in my workouts, my new passion for hot yoga, riding, running with Voodoo on my schedule. Even now with the evenings turning dark so early, I have the opportunity to enjoy the sun and the beautiful weather everyday. I love having Voodoo sleeping at my feet as I type away at my computer, as he does right this minute. It is all about the small things.
As we look ahead, in addition to opening another gym, we are looking at building our very own custom home. The plans are still at the initial phases, but they look extremely promising. That coupled with a couple of acres of land, overlooking Gatineau Parks, we are extremely excited. Although I envision lots and lots of work, choices of tiles, paint, furniture, fixtures, and so much more, it will be a wonderful experience to build our very own home in beautiful Dunrobin, a small town outside of Ottawa.
May 2012 will also mark my first mission work in Africa. After returning from Africa 2 years ago, I set the intention to go back one day in a “giving back” capacity. I am excited to be partnering up with Impact Malawi.org to build sustainable communities for children and their families. Our primary focus will be: CLEAN WATER by way of “Elephant Pumps” and ROCKET STOVES for a small community in Malawi. I will be hitting the ground on May 22nd, 2012.
I cannot express how grateful I am for the continued health of those we love, our friends, and our families. We are extremely blessed for the people we have in our life, the friendships we’ve made and the adventures we’ve shared with many of you. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish you all a New Year filled with good health, abundance, and joy.
We all deserve to be healthy in body and mind. We all deserve to be happy, inside and out. And we all deserve to be wealthy and live life to the fullest and make our dreams come true. What are you going to do in 2012 to make this a reality?
